A new theme for a new era…

As you can see, iindigo3D v4 (also known as Project Tangerine, or projecT for short) is now completed and in usage!

While iindigo3D v3 was nice, at least to me, it felt a touch too heavy and far too gray. This new theme is lighter in not only appearance, but also in load time - while I have done no official tests, the new theme is at least 50% faster to load. It also provides readers (you guys) with a color scheme choice - simply move your cursor to the top right-hand corner of the page and select the “flavor” you prefer! Your choice will “stick” and be used for all pages on both the wordpress and non-wordpress sides.

While mostly unintentional, iindigo3D v4 is also more friendly to IE 6 than v3 was (though I still implore anybody using that pathetic excuse for a web browser to change browsers or upgrade to the latest IE as soon as possible).

Keep in mind that while I found no bugs in my testing, some may still be hiding in dark corners. If you find one, please let me know and I’ll fix it as soon as possible. Also, if you have any particular color theme you want to see added, leave it in the comments and it just might appear some time :).

Host switch and new theme

I just switched my hosting from A Small Orange to Network Redux. As a result, I will have much more bandwidth and storage space for much less (in fact, half of what I paid ASO). Not offense to A Small Orange - they’re a great host with an excellent support team, but Network Redux simply has a better deal.

I also changed the site’s theme from Tarski to a modified version of Bogart. It has simplicity not unlike Tarski’s, but without the random and meaningless tree in the header.

Of WordPress Updates, Lightbox, and Other Things…

I have just updated WordPress to version 2.1.1, and have updated the blog’s theme, Tarski, to match. If anybody finds any bugs, please let me know about them. I also installed the ever-popular Lightbox 2 plugin for easier viewing/previewing of images. Since bandwidth usage has returned to (somewhat) normal, I have put the Mac OS Through the Years and 3D Art sections back up and made them use Lightbox for image viewing.

In other news, my senior year of high school is wrapping up very quickly. I’ll be taking the ACT on April 14th, and I’ll be going on our senior trip to Arizona in about a month. Graduation day is May 25th. It’s hard to believe everything has moved this quickly, and that I’ll be in college in less than a year. Kinda scary, really.

Also, one more thing before I finish this blogpost - I need a new image for the site header. The stupid default tree isn’t cutting it anymore. What I would like is a header featuring a beautiful environment from an anime; something like a sunset or a field. Another idea I had was rotating header images featuring various different anime characters. At any rate, I’m asking anybody that’s reading this for suggestions on the matter.

Crazy Bandwidth Consumption

Due to unbelievable amounts of traffic hitting my site (8GB in 3 days), I’m going to have to take down the Mac OS Through the Years, 3D Art, and WoW sections until traffic calms down. I’m sorry to do this to my readers, but I can only afford 50GB of bandwidth per month, and I can’t afford to not have my website up when I need it (my host cuts off service until the next month when the limit is reached).

If somebody has a better solution, feel free to present it to me.

Mac OS Through the Years Back Up!

As a pleasant surprise, I was able to finish my chemistry paper ahead of time, which therefore allowed me to fix up Mac OS Through the years. I optimized the pictures to take less bandwidth, corrected a couple things, added a thing or two, and changed the layout. Feel free to check it out, but please, please don’t inflict the digg effect on me again >_<.

Now I just need to come up with a nice header graphic for this new low-bandwidth theme…
